Work

September 2010 Graph

After 2 more weeks of being unable to win a pot, I dropped to 50/1 briefly, and then didn’t bother playing at all for the last two weeks of the month.

I think I’m now about £8k down (excluding rake back and promos) since I posted that I was even for the year back in June.

I’m going to accept the suggestion that I should try a different site. I hadn’t wanted to do that because; playing at Ladbrokes had seemed soft and profitable in the past; it seemed a bit like giving up defeated; it seems a bit like a concession to superstition.

But it could be that the Microgaming network has become tougher than average and so it is sensible to check out the games elsewhere. (probably something I should have been doing continuously, to be honest.)

Its not all bad though, I won about £400 in live £1/2 and £450 at the opening Fox tournament. Interestingly, I’m pretty sure I’m correct if I say that I have won the last 3 tournaments I bought in to; the Laddies 100k, DTD £300, Fox £20. (I also entered a VIP freeroll and placed for a £100 shop voucher!). Based on that it seems like I should become a live tournament-circuit donkey; I’ve started correctly by being a loser in online cash this Autumn!

From a personal standpoint it would be interesting to read how you find the UIs for each of the different clients; some kind of mini review of each site’s usability. What features work, what doesn’t and what bits from the range of clients could be amalgamated to make a better experience.

Hey alex, been following you since you did that video for CR a couple of years ago. I play at ladbrokes and noticed you are hardly on anymore or just play PLO, have you noticed the games at 100nl+ get a lot tougher? I know a few guys who were regs upto 1knl who now grind 100nl and 200nl which is kinda depressing for me to hear.

    Anyways keep blogging and gl.

Interesting Mr_jimmy ran like everyone untill merge since he has never had more than a 9 BI swing same as boywonder and his was over 150k+ hands.
I used to crush ladbrokes untill merge then ran under ev and had 1 winning month or break and 19 BI swing running 9k under ev.or slighty up after RB.
I joined I poker/stars never played eithier before as never needed to and am back winning. The play at micro is bad and meny of MSNL player lack technical ability but if the rng keeps spazzing what can you do.leaving this site helped my confidence and play and im happy playing and winning again.

Apologies the comments weren’t up for a while, I missed the email letting me know they were there.

The games at €400+ are certainly tougher. Before Feb ’08 it was 1 pro, three losing regs and 2 massive fish. Now its 5 pros and 1 fish who bluffs enough to still be tricky.

I’m sure that €100 and €200 are tougher than the old $5/$10 games, at those stakes the rake is a bigger percentage, and I find them difficult because the fact that the possible hourly is so much lower makes me want to press to hard.
