Again no graph and no poker. USA this month – Hannah’s brother joined us in LA and we drove through California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, including Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings, Death Valley, Vegas, Zion Park, Bryce Park, Sedona, Palm Springs and back to LA. Saw my first basketball game – Lakers vs Kings, and can also confirm that its a myth that the USA doesn’t have roundabouts – there are at least 4 in Sedona. They mostly have intersections with surprisingly effective 4-way stop signs: It looks like either everyone gives way to the car that’s been stood the longest, or they just work by witchcraft. Or everyone just got out of my way because we looked like tourists in a hire-car.
Then flew across country for a few days in NYC, which got lengthened because of the Volcano and then converted into an additional 3-day visit to Atlantic city. There was plenty of live poker there, but it wasn’t that interesting because I stayed down at 2/5 since it had been 8 weeks since I’d earned anything, hopefully it was a good warm up to help me get back into the mindset, and it was certainly cheaper than NYC for the extra nights – spent $100 on travel and, I think after comps, $80 on the room, and finished with just over $200 cash profit after food and everything, so funnily enough I’m about $20 better off for missing the flight ![]()
